An Experimental Study ton he Effect of Cortisone on Antibody Production in Rabbits

Abstract
In order to study any effect ¢¥that cortisone WjcQ% gives to the imnwility which has occured within rabbit scrum, the variety of the inhibition activity againist the bacillus growth and that of the scrum gamma globulin concentration were observed.
The results are summarized as follows:
When staphylococcus albus so lution was injected intraperitoneally to rabbits every 48 hours for two weeks, the serum showed the inhibition activity againist the growth of the staphylococcus albus after 4 days, and the activity increa-sed so long as the injection continued; after the 14-dayinjection, it was remarkablly reduced when cortisone 5mg. per kg. body weight was injected intramuscurally.
The serum ganina globulin concentration: also increased gradually by the continuous injection of staphylococcus albus solution, but was remarkablly reduced when cortisone 5 mg. per kg. body weight was injected likewise.
However, the serum gamma globulin concentra tion was not likely to coincide with the gro-,,Tth inhibition activity.
